Weekly & Monthly Activities
- Zaans Culture House 2 Cornelis van Uitgeeststraat Zaandam, NH, 1508 EH Netherlands (map)
Our neighbors from the Zaanstreek region enjoy organizing their own cultural and/or social activities here. Courses, workshops, get-togethers, neighborhood dinners, and more. This calendar lists only the start dates of recurring activities.
Please contact them directly for more information and to sign up.
Workshops & Classes
Every Tuesday, 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Indian dance is for everyone, too. During the classes, you’ll learn the basics of Kathak, and we’ll work on semi-classical choreographies set to Bollywood music.
Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays
Theatermijn is dedicated to anyone in the Zaanstreek region who wants to (learn to) act in and create theater. Through its theater school for all ages, its own productions, and educational projects, it makes theater more accessible.
Every Saturday, 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Uğur Ünsal, from Zaandam, is starting theater classes in Turkish for children ages 4 to 12, and there is also a group for adults.
Every Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
The Surinamese School organizes various creative workshops based on Surinamese culture for anyone interested, ages 8 to 16.
We live very nicely with our other roommates who rehearse here with their own association. Just because their rehearsals are not public does not mean you could not become a member there. Click here to meet them.
Drop-In & Neighborhood Activities
Every Monday / 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Free stuff drop off & pick up.
Free meet at the table with a cup of coffee (or tea).
Every Monday evening
Dungeons & Dragons is a live, improvised role-playing game, and at our theater, it will also lead up to a performance. Every other week, you can join in to create and experience new adventures.
Every other Wednesday / 10:00 - 12:00 a.m.
Women's Morning: for conviviality and personal development. Sometimes we walk, sometimes we drink coffee or tea together, sometimes we learn something - but always it's fun!
Every Thursday morning
At the Parent and Child Club, you come with your child (ages 0–4). Children play together, explore, and practice language in a playful way. Meanwhile, parents meet other parents, exchange tips, and can ask questions.
Every Thursday / 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
On Thursday afternoons, UNIT hosts a variety of fun activities for youth ages 10 to about 14.
Every month…
…we have a meal together—with your fellow residents and sometimes even the performers. Together with the Social Neighborhood Team and volunteers, we provide a delicious meal for everyone.
