The name "Culture House" underscores our ambition; a place for performances, classes, neighborhood initiatives and meetings. A shared space - where art from different cultural perspectives reinforces each other, inspires and becomes accessible to a wide audience. Amateurs, professionals, young people, the elderly ... everyone is welcome here.

With two theater studios and a theater hall, we give space to creative ideas from the Zaan region. Combined with space for social initiatives in the Kogerveld district and surrounding neighborhoods, we create a lively place here to share our stories with each other.

Intercultural collaboration

In our own program, we strive to bring together creativity from various cultures and thus reflect the cultural richness in the Zaan region of and for all residents. The focus here is that children become acquainted with this diversity and thus their frame of reference of the world around them expands and opens for that which they do not (yet) know. For this we work together with various cultural partners:

Gazi has been actively involved with DIDF for more than 43 years, both in Zaanstad and nationally. As the father of two children, he is committed to equality, cooperation and social justice. DIDF's main goal is to promote the integration of the Turkish-Dutch community.

Anita was born in Suriname, has been in the Netherlands since the 1980s - and has been the driving force behind the Indian Lights Foundation for 25 years. Passionate about women's empowerment, education for children and making Indian culture visible in the Zaan region, Anita brings people together.

Peggy enjoys working with children and young people - learning as well as creating. Through workshops, the Surinamese school brings the rich Surinamese culture to life in the Zaans Cultuurhuis: music, dance, stories, fashion and, of course, cuisine.

From India to Zaandam - Ranjitha wants to be a connector between artists and culturally interested people in the Zaans Cultuurhuis. India is more than food and Bollywood - it is dance, music, stories and connection.

In addition to the Cultural Partners and changing visitors we can offer a place for, there are also permanent residents:

Zaans Cultuurhuis is part of Stichting Theatermijn, which takes its own initiative to make (learning about) theater making possible for everyone in the Zaan region. The Zaans Toneelhuis is open to all cultural and social initiators. We work with a combination of enthusiastic volunteers and theater professionals to make everyone feel at home here.
