Guru Shanmuga Sundaram is a renowned Bharata Natyam dancer, based in Chennai, and is known for his beautiful dance postures and subdued abhinaya. He enjoys international recognition and has performed worldwide.

In addition to his work as a dance teacher, he is also frequently in demand for his expertise with the nattuvangam . Recently, he has gained popularity for his successful work teaching dance to the transgender community in Chennai.

He was a disciple of the late guru KJ Sarasa and has been presenting a popular annual dance festival in Chennai dedicated to his guru for more than a decade.

For the past five years, Shanmuga has been under the guidance of guru Padma Sri Chitra Visweswaran, which has added a new dimension and further enhanced his development as an artist.
