After last year's success, the Zaans Toneelhuis is back this year with a free interactive experience for children during the Christmas vacations.

Six artists transform our first floor into the "Wonderful Ocean of Ice": play with snowballs, hear how icicles drip water and who knows, you might spot a penguin in the ice world.

In addition to this installation, there is also a theater performance about Jeppe, who is drawn into the world of the ice sea during a canoe trip. There he encounters a little friend. Although Jeppe finds it exciting enough, he still manages to help his new friend and bring him home.

The whole family is welcome to learn about the wonder that art can create. The art installation is free during the Christmas season (or a donation afterwards). The performance can be visited for a fee. Stop by and see what else there is to discover!

The Sea of Ice was created for children ages 3 to 10, who can explore space on their own with the guidance of their parents:

• Tuesday, Dec. 24, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.: open walk-in

• Tuesday, Dec. 31, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.: open walk-in

The Wonderful Ice Sea is an initiative of Zaans Toneelhuis to introduce neighborhood children and parents to the wonder that art can bring about. The Ice Sea is free to enter during the Christmas season (or a donation afterwards). There are a number of performances that can be attended for a fee.

In the reception area, children who need to wait a while, or have just finished, can color and drink a cup of hot chocolate.
