On May 22 and 26, the Zaanlands Lyceum will perform one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies: A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1592).
Four young Athenians are head over heels in love—but unfortunately not with the right person. Fleeing from their parents, they find themselves in an enchanted forest at night, where a fierce quarrel is raging between the fairy king Oberon and the fairy queen Titania. The elf Puck sows confusion, and the Queen of the Fairies falls in love with a donkey. Meanwhile, deep in the forest, a group of eager amateurs is rehearsing a play for King Theseus’s wedding—with mixed results.
