Summer adventures during SummerSchool!
The program is all about Surinamese culture - from dance and nature to heroes and stories. Every Sunday morning during summer vacation, we immerse ourselves in a new adventure.
SummerSchool takes place at the cozy Zaans Toneelhuis. We start every morning at 10 a.m. and finish at noon. Together we discover, make art, dance, listen to inspiring stories and learn all about Suriname - in a playful and sunny way!
Here is the program:
🌿 S unday, July 20 - Indigenous dance with St. Wajikwa
We kick off SummerSchool with a swinging morning full of movement! Learn the rhythms and movements of traditional Surinamese dances. Guided by a Leander, you will learn step by step the meaning behind the dance steps.
📖 S unday, July 27 - Book launch with Henna Goudzand
The well-known writer Henna Goudzand is coming to visit! She will read from her book "Winti" and talk about being a writer and the Surinamese stories that inspire her. Ask all your questions, find out how books are written and get creative with language and imagination yourself.
🌱 S unday, August 3 - Indigenous Biodiversity with with St. Wajikwa
Did you know that Suriname is one of the greenest countries in the world? This morning we will dive into the country's rich nature. Together we will discover the animals, plants and customs of the indigenous peoples. Explore, feel, smell and learn all about nature.
📚 S unday, August 10 - Anton de Kom with Guus Pengel
Who was Anton de Kom? Why is he so important in Surinamese and Dutch history? Guus Pengel takes you with him through stories, play and images we dive into his life and ideas. An inspiring morning about courage, freedom and standing up for what you find important.
🎨 S unday, August 17 - Screen Printing with Noémi Beyer
With colors, shapes and symbols, we will create our own Surinamese works of art on pangi fabric. At the end of the morning you will take home your own design. A colorful end to a great summer!
The own contribution is €85 for the entire program of five Saturdays. That includes all materials, guidance and treats during the break.

* Participation one child: €85.
* Participation two children: €150.
* Register siblings using a separate registration form.
After registration, you will receive a payment link by email or whatsapp. Mention clearly the name of your child(ren) when paying.
🇸🇷De place of a child is confirmed once payment has been made.
The group consists of a maximum of 15 children. So be quick!
Would you like to enroll your child(ren) but it is not financially possible? We offer a few free spots for those families where this applies. You can contact us for the possibilities.
