LETTERS HOME
is a cross-border documentary theater project that brings together Ukrainians living in the Netherlands with Ukrainians who have remained in Ukraine. It explores painful questions about home and feeling at home somewhere.
"Letters Home," produced by the United Ukrainian Theatre in the Netherlands and the Actor’s House Theatre Platform in Zaporizhzhia, brings together professional actors, displaced Ukrainians, and war veterans from both countries.
"Letters Home" presents radically different experiences of the same war against Ukraine. The stories of various people reveal the complex reality of Ukrainian society, four years after the war began. They also highlight the bond that Ukrainians continue to feel with one another, despite the thousands of kilometers that separate them. A post-performance discussion will follow the show.

United Ukrainian Theatre is a theater platform for professional Ukrainian artists based in Amsterdam. Founded in 2023, United Ukrainian Theatre creates independent Dutch-Ukrainian productions and supports Ukrainian artists working within the European cultural landscape.
Actor’s House Theatre Platform is a municipal theater in Zaporizhzhia. It serves as an open artistic platform for contemporary theater, interdisciplinary projects, and cultural dialogue.

LETTERS HOME is a cross-border documentary theater project that brings together Ukrainians living in the Netherlands and those who remain in Ukraine. It is a performance about home, belonging, loss, and the connection between people separated by thousands of kilometers. Through the participants’ personal stories, the project explores how our concept of home changes and what it means to remain part of a community when war forces people to live in different countries.
“Letters Home” was created by the United Ukrainian Theatre in the Netherlands in collaboration with the “Actor’s House” Theater Platform in Zaporizhzhia.
The project features professional actors, internally displaced Ukrainians, and war veterans from Ukraine and the Netherlands. The performance highlights radically different experiences of the same war. The stories of these different people reveal the complex reality of Ukrainian society after four years of full-scale war—and at the same time demonstrate the connection that Ukrainians continue to feel with one another, despite distance and borders.
An open discussion will take place after the performance.
