Visual and musical performance about a (t)house
Why does every child make tents, cabins and houses? Is the feeling of home then under a roof? And can you also feel at home with someone else? Or is home perhaps just within yourself?
Mime performer and creator Achref Adhadhi and musician and improviser Kristján Martinsson both live in the Netherlands, but Achref is from Tunisia and Kristján from Iceland. Yet they both feel at home here. But what is the feeling of home? In this poetic and funny performance, Achref and Kristján, in a play of mime and live music, search for where, when and how to feel at home. Because feeling at home is about more than just east, west or living somewhere. After all, you can feel at home anywhere!
"For this reviewer, the highlight was the moment when Adhadhi and Martinsson sing together Nenni Nenni Jek Ennoum, a lullaby every Tunisian knows by heart. Going along with this golden oldie, Adhadhi's Arabic flows smoothly into Martinsson's free translation into Icelandic - one of the most elegant bridges between two sharply contrasting cultures I have ever seen struck on a performance floor." - Theatererkrant.nl, April 2024
