An interactive art installation, workshop & theater performance.

Two weeks a year the entire Zaans Cultuurhuis is transformed into an interactive winter world where children can marvel at art and this time the urban environment. With various artists, we remodel the entire building so that, while we stimulate the imagination, the children become more aware of the world they live in. Previous editions were Winter Forest and Ice Sea, in 2025 Winter City.

Several artists have been inspired by (life in) the city. There is room to grow but just below the towering apartment buildings you feel smaller than ever. A jumble of human lives run across the streets through which you must find your way. At night the lampposts, neon signs and car lights paint a colorful scene to wander around in.

The Wonderful Winter City can be visited between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on
