 Help build the Zaans Cultuurhuis

Would you like to help create a home for creativity from diverse cultures in the Zaanstreek?

The Zaans Cultuurhuis is looking for new board members. After many years of service, the terms of two of our current board members are coming to an end. That is why we are looking for people who want to contribute their knowledge, experience, network, or enthusiasm to help us continue building an inclusive cultural gathering place. We are looking for at least one new board member, but there may be openings for two new board members.

We are primarily looking for people who can help us with financial matters and/or expanding our network. Someone with financial expertise who, as treasurer, can contribute ideas about ensuring a healthy future for the foundation, fundraising, and grant opportunities. Or someone who is well-connected within Zaanstad’s diverse cultural communities and wants to help build bridges between people, organizations, and initiatives.

Who are we?

Zaans Culture House

The Zaans Cultuurhuis is working to create a Zaan region where culture is accessible to everyone. We believe in the power of connection, creativity, and collaboration between different cultures and communities. We aim to be a home for cultural initiatives that foster connection, talent development, and mutual understanding.

Theater Mine

Theatermijn is the theater label of the Zaans Cultuurhuis. Since 2011, we have been organizing theater projects, educational programs, talent development, and cultural activities for people of all ages. We also provide a space for artists, organizations, and community initiatives looking for a place to create, meet, and present their work.

What are we asking for?

Not a daily commitment, but a commitment to the cause. The board generally meets three times a year. In addition, board members contribute ideas on the organization’s direction, serve as ambassadors, and contribute their knowledge, experience, or network wherever possible.

For new board members, we prefer candidates who possess one or more of the following qualities:

· Financial knowledge and an interest in fundraising and grant opportunities.

· A strong network within Zaanstad’s diverse cultural communities.

· Commitment to culture, talent development, and social engagement.

· We strive to have a board that reflects the diversity of Zaan society. That is why we expressly invite people from different backgrounds, of different ages, with different experiences, and from different cultural networks to get to know us.

· Board experience is not required. We value a commitment to culture, the community, and our mission more than an impressive resume.

Why participate.

As a board member, you’ll help create opportunities for people to come together, be creative, and engage in cultural exchange in the Zaanstreek region. You’ll contribute to an organization that supports and connects creators, residents, associations, and cultural initiatives.

The position is unpaid, but offers the opportunity to work with others to make a meaningful contribution to an inclusive cultural future for Zaanstad.
