Indian Dance Performance by Sitara & Aashika

Sitara

This dance is about the goddess Durga. Navratri is coming up soon; during these nine days, Hindus all over the world honor the feminine energy. This dance tells the story of the powers of our universal mother, “Durga.” This is a semi-classical dance.
Dina started with the South Indian dance style Bharat Natyam but soon switched to Kathak. The music and Hindi lyrics resonated with her personally and make this dance extra special for her. She also teaches! Here, you’ll learn the basics of Kathak, and we’ll work on semi-classical choreographies set to Bollywood music. She’ll be showcasing this with her students during the Zaans Culture Festival.

Kuchipudi

Kuchipudi is a classical dance tradition from the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

This dance combines graceful movements, rhythm, music, and expressive storytelling. Hand gestures and facial expressions bring stories and emotions to life.

Kuchipudi is traditionally accompanied by Carnatic music and has evolved into a vibrant dance form that is performed all over the world. This gives audiences the opportunity to discover and experience Indian culture and traditions.
