Culture Sniffers

Through CultuurSnuivers, we introduce children to the rich diversity of cultures that come together in Zaanstad in an accessible and creative way. By creating, playing, and exploring together, they develop their creative talents and deepen their curiosity and understanding of one another.

Throughout the year, we organize various “CultuurSnuiverijen” events, each inspired by a cultural tradition or holiday. Think of Diwali, Carnival, Ramadan, Holi, and Keti Koti. To make it accessible to everyone, we always adapt the tradition into an art form that we use as our starting point. So your cultural background doesn’t matter—in fact, the more diverse the cultures, the better!

Each CultuurSnuiverij features a varied program. Children are introduced to the stories and traditions related to the theme, meet artists, and—most importantly—get hands-on experience with theater, dance, music, or visual arts. We take plenty of time to explore, create, and play together. The day concludes with a short presentation, an exhibition, or another group activity.

Depending on the number of registrations, we'll work in one or two groups to ensure that everyone receives sufficient individual attention.

Each Culture Day starts at 1:00 p.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. with a presentation.
Participation costs €25 per day
Or attend all five for €20 per day (€100 total) with CultuurSnuiver+
